Within the framework of the Forum was a panel discussion on the topic: “Globalization of foreign economic processes through the development of transport and logistics infrastructure and renewal of river navigation”
The main topics of the discussion were devoted to the presentation of the project of the transport and logistics corridor through the “Water Gates of Ukraine”.
Andrii Gordieiev – Head of the Kherson Regional State Administration was moderating.
In the framework of the discussion, the general director of “Nibulon” LLC Oleksiy Vadatursky outlined the possibility of creating a powerful transport hub of Ukraine due to the development of transport logistics. He presented the company’s strategy for dredging works in the waterway of the navigable route E-40 that increase river transport on the Baltic Sea – Gdansk – Dnipro – Black Sea, as well as introduction of container transportations and transportation of bulk cargoes along the Dnipro River to the Republic of Belarus (potentially and turnover to 25 million tonnes per year). Oleksiy Opanasovych also informed the participants about the company’s intentions regarding the possibility of building a harbor port in the Kherson region.
Volodymyr Chekhlov, Consul General of the Republic of Belarus in Odessa, the representative of the profile Ministry of Infrastructure of Ukraine, the Advisor to the Minister Yuriy Gusev and the Chairman of the Gomel Regional Executive Committee Volodymyr Dvornik, supported the idea of the creation of «transport corridor».
Volodymyr Dvornik reminded that the project of port construction in the village of Nizhniy Zhary of the Gomel region, which will become a transport hub, would connect Ukraine, Belarus and the European countries due to the deepening of the Pripyat and the Dnipro rivers in the Gomel region.
Another interesting project presented in the framework of the panel discussion was devoted to the proposal of the creation of a dry port and a potash fertilizer plant based on the former JSC Kherson Cotton Factory, which will be included in the concept of the creation of the Black Sea-Baltic transport logistics corridor. That will connect cargo flows from Iran and other countries of the Middle East with Ukraine and Europe.
The project was presented by the director of «Amalteya» Ltd. Serhiy Rybachok.
Mr. Abbas Hashemi, the head of the Ukrainian-Arab business council, expressed intentions for idea support by the Iranian partners.
For confirmation of the common intentions of further cooperation to conclude the discussion, the Memorandum about cooperation and partnership between the Kherson Regional State Administration, the Gomel Region Executive Committee and the “Nibulon” LLC was concluded.
The panel discussion “Prospects for the Development of Electricity Production in Ukraine at the expense of Renewable Sources” became an actual topic that was considered within the framework of the Forum.
Andriy Konechenkov, Chairman of the Board of the Public Union “Ukrainian Wind Energy Association”, was moderator of the panel discussion.
During the panel discussion was discussed the energy strategy of Ukraine approved by the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine. Strategy provides 25% of the development of renewable energy sources by 2035. Deputy Directorate of the Ministry Ms. Natalia Boyko gave detailed explanation of the further implementation of the strategy.
The head of State Agency of Energy Efficiency and Energy Saving of Ukraine Serhiy Savchuk stressed that the Government today creates stimulating conditions for investment in the field of renewable energy.
Chairman of the Board of JSB “UKRGASBANK” Kyrylo Shevchenko noted that bank, within the framework of a memorandum, concluded with the Kherson Regional State Administration in 2016, during the 2016-2017 year invested 1 billion 200 million hryvnas in the “ecological projects” of the Kherson region (2 projects). For the further perspective, in Kherson region for investing 13 more projects are considered.
Within the framework of the panel discussion, the main tendencies in attracting investment resources in the development of the renewable energy sector in Ukraine were discussed. The project was presented and solemnly opened in the framework of the Forum, namely the construction of the Novotroitskaya wind power plant (first phase 15 MW, total power – 140 MW).
In general, the project envisages the implementation in the near future a number of projects for the construction of wind farms, namely:
– “Oreanivska” WPS with the capacity of 69.3 MW in the territory of Novotroitsky and Genichesk regions;
– “Novotroitska” WPS with a capacity of 69.3 MW in Novotroitsky region;
– “Kalanchatska” WPS with the capacity of 300 MW in Kalanchatsky region;
– “Chaplinska” WPS capacity of 300 MW in Chaplinsky district.
Sweden’s Secretary of State for Environment and Climate, Ms. Eva Swedling, commented on the situation with regard to the provisions and implementation of the Paris Climate Change Agreement, which Ukraine also ratified and committed to fulfill. She shared Sweden’s experience in reducing emissions from industrial enterprises through transition to alternative technologies.
A memorandum of cooperation was signed with the aim of confirming the intentions to implement investment projects in the Kherson region in the field of renewable energy sources between the Kherson Regional State Administration and LLC Windcraft Ukraine.
Within the framework of the business communication platform of the Forum «Green investments – driver of territories’ progress», 4 panel discussions were held:
Oleh Yukhnovsky, Chairman of the Agricultural-Industrial Complex Committee at the Ukrainian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, moderated the panel discussion «Advancement of agribusiness – foundation of the future».
The speakers of the event were: Mykhailo Malkov – International Consultant of the Regional Office for Europe and Central Asia of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO); Gennady Novikov – Chairman of the Union of Agrarian Union of Ukraine; Vyacheslav Vlasov – Academician, member of the Presidium of the National Academy of Agrarian Sciences of Ukraine.
During the panel discussion, a dealership agreement was signed between OJSC “Gomselmash” (Gomel, Republic of Belarus) and OJSC NPP “Kherson Machine-Building Plant” (Kherson) on cooperation in the field of sales of agricultural machinery and spare parts. An agreement on intentions between OJSC “Sahartorg” (Gomel, Republic of Belarus) and the Agrofarm “Belozersky” (Kherson region) on the supply of fruit and vegetable products.
Panel discussion of the most active representatives of the tourist community of Kherson region on the topic: «Strategic tools for tourism development and hospitality industry» was held with participation of Mikhail Titarchuk, Deputy Minister of Economic Development and Trade of Ukraine; Pavlo Sheremeta, Ukrainian manager-economist, founder of the company “Proryv.in.ua”; Emma Turos, executive director of the Canadian-Ukrainian Chamber of Commerce; Ruslan Osypenko, Executive Director of the China Trade Association.
Discussed issues related to ensuring high standards and safety of tourism, improving the level of service and quality of tourist services, creating conditions for the sustainable development of domestic and inbound tourism.
They talked about Canadian investments in tourism and recreation of Kherson region, about creation of conditions for readiness to attract Chinese tourist flows into the region, about positive and negative factors of tourism of the region, about the successes and directions that still need improvement and special attention from the authorities. Participants of the Forum talked about the vectors of further the work and the need for the practical implementation of existing unique international models of tourism management.
Within the framework of the panel discussion «Implementation of Green Technologies Today – the key to sustainable development», the Kherson region investment potential of the renewable energy sector was presented.
A vivid example of the investment attractiveness of this area was the presentation of a project for the construction of a 110 MW Dnipro-Bug wind power plant, which is planned to be implemented in the near future.
The direction of energy development using the sun was highlighted by the deputy director of the in the southern region. KNESS holding company implemented a number of projects in the Kherson region in 2017.
After panel discussion, foreign investors from Germany expressed their intentions to learn more about the opportunities in this direction and promised to meet in working order for discussion of possibilities of cooperation in the field of roofing PPS of large capacity on the roofs of communal objects.
During the panel discussion “Development of the united territorial communities in the framework of cooperation with development institutions” were discussed a number of important issues concerning the realities of the united territorial communities in the Kherson region, the prospects for their development and the main directions of their economic growth.
The participants discussed the situation with the united territorial communities in the Kherson region, the potential opportunities of the “Agency for Regional Development of the Tavrian Territorial Communities Association”. For the united territorial communities of the Kherson region were presented ways of implementing strategic planning and economic projects in their territories.
Key competencies and successful examples of cooperation between the territorial communities with the Regional Development Agency on the territory of Ukraine were also presented. Invited speakers from the panel discussion shared their experience in implementing European strategic planning experience in Ukrainian realities.
On September 30th was the solemn opening of the unique scientific-production enterprise “5 Element” in the city of Gola Prystan.
The main areas of work are the development and production of environmentally friendly microfertilizers for crops to restore soil fertility and increase crop yields.
Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of Canada to Ukraine Roman Waschuk, Consul General of Belarus in Odessa Volodymyr Chekhlov, Economic Secretary of Romania in Ukraine Mr. Valentin Mamant, Honorary Consul of Ukraine in Padua Marco Toson, representatives of business from Egypt, Sudan, Algeria etc., farmers of the Kherson region.
At present, the production and laboratory complex has an area of more than 2500 square meters, production shops – 825 square meters.
Directions of work:
– development and production of environmentally friendly microfertilizers for crops to restore soil fertility and increase crop yields;
– production of drugs that increase the efficiency of the branches of agroindustrial complex: for plant growing in the agroindustrial complex;
– cultivation and processing of crop production.
The company plans is to produce up to 50 tons of microfertilizer every year and to ensure its implementation around the world. There are already agreements on cooperation with Lithuania, Slovakia, Czech Republic, Algeria, Tunisia, Morocco, Egypt, Sudan, Uganda, Oman, Vietnam, Brunei, Indonesia, Cambodia, Laos, Malaysia, Singapore, Myanmar, Thailand, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan, the products will be also sold in Ukraine.
Within the framework of the event, a Memorandum of Cooperation between Kherson Region State Administration in the person of Andrii Gordieiev and the Ukrainian-Arabic Business Council in the person of Sheikh Imad Abu Alurub was signed.
Also, on September 30th, the first Youth Entrepreneurship Forum was held.
During the event, representatives of international funds for support of small and medium enterprises, local authorities, youth, business, and educational institutions of the Kherson region discussed problems and prospects for the development of youth entrepreneurship.
The speakers were: Victor Lyakh (President of the East Europe Foundation), Tamara Solyanik (Director of the USAID LEV Program), Igor Burakovsky (senior advisor to the USAID LEV Program, chairman of the Institute for Economic Research and Policy Consulting), Volodymyr Syrovatko (deputy mayor of Nova Kakhovka), Pavlo Yarmiy (Project Manager, “SME Development of the Tavrian Region through Supporting Youth Entrepreneurship and Improving the Information Environment”, Director of public organization “Agency of Regional Development of the Tavrian Association of Territorial Communities”).
During the event were discussed: the leading trends in the world development of youth entrepreneurship, the introduction of new forms of cooperation with public organizations and international foundations, the role of today’s entrepreneurship in the global development of territories, increasing entrepreneurial activity of young people in the Kherson region, business incubators, coworkings and hubs), educational innovations in the training of young entrepreneurs, social entrepreneurship and creative economics.
Within the framework of the forum were presented the best business plans of young people who were trained in the program “Beginning and development of own business” – “Fast Food Cafe” (Ivan Parfyonov), “Pharmacy Chest” (Zhanna Bodnar-Galyulina), “Laundry” (Andriy Kryvenko ), “Beauty Salon” (Anastasia Lisakova), “Urbanslace NK” (Olga Orlova), “Walnut Garden” (Maxim Chepelyuk).
