For the second consecutive year the partner of the Forum will be the Global Environment Facility Small Grants Program (GEF SGP), implemented by the United Nations Development Program (UNDP), executed by the Office of the United Nations Office for Project Services (UNOPS).
Since the introduction of the Global Environment Facility (GEF) in 1992, the Small Grants Program (SGP) has contributed to a wider public effort to address the global environment.
UNDP/GEF Small Grants Program works with communities around the world to overcome major environmental problems and successfully demonstrates that community support in their intentions to achieve sustainable development is not only possible, but also extremely productive and important.
In the Kherson region, the Small Grants Program works in such districts as: Bereslavsky, Kakhovsky, Ivanivsky, Belozersky, Tsyurupinsky, Chaplinsky, Novotroitsky, Genichesk, Golopristansky, Skadovsky, Kalanchatsky.
Thanks to the collaboration of the Kherson Regional State Administration and UNDP/GEF Small Grants Program in 2017, for the amalgamated communities of the region was held the Contest of the Kherson Region Ecological Projects.
Within the framework of the International Investment Forum “Tavrian Horizons”, which took place in September 29, 2017 in the city of Nova Kakhovka, was announced the winner of the Contest. According to the results of the Contest on the territory of Chaplinsky district in Khrestivska amalgamated community was implemented the grant project on the use of alternative solar energy for heating the water in Nadezhdivsky nursery garden.
One of the priority areas of the UNDP/GEF Small Grants Program is “Related Benefits of Community Access to Low Carbon Energy”.
